Blue Cross

A place of quiet presence and Marian closeness

At the base of Apparition Hill, surrounded by trees and silence, stands the Blue Cross — one of the earliest and most tender places associated with the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Medjugorje.

During the early 1980s, when access to the hill was forbidden by local authorities, the visionaries gathered here in secret. Over time, the Blue Cross became a recognized site of prayer, apparitions, and deep consolation, especially for those unable to make the full climb to Podbrdo.

Today, thousands of pilgrims visit the Blue Cross daily — not for visibility, but for intimacy.
